On his 150th birthday, the Czar of Tridevyatoe Kingdom decides that he’s had enough and it is time for him to retire. “I am tired. I am leaving,” says the Czar, as he picks up a fishing rod and walks down a village road. Prince Ivan and Gray Wolf are now the only ones left to rule over the country. Except that Vasilisa, Ivan’s wife, says that she’s never really had her wedding trip, hardly ever seen foreign lands, and has literally nothing worthy to post on her Instagram. Well, no argument there, Ivan thinks. So along with Vasilisa, the Learned Cat, and Gray Wolf he boards the magic carpet and sets off on a journey. To watch over the country while they take their leave of absence, they find a deputy—a regular scarecrow. Yet while the company is having fun abroad, the scarecrow comes to life and begins to establish its own rules in Tridevyatoe Kingdom.
