Set in September 1944, during the final months of World War II, Cuckoo tells the story of a Finnish sniper and a Russian officer who, after battling on opposite sides, seek refuge in a farmhouse within the unclaimed territory between them. The farm is owned by a young Lapp widow. This poignant film explores the theme of anti-war sentiment, highlighting the unlikely bond that forms among the three individuals. Alongside the touching narrative, there is also delightful comedy woven into the story, particularly through the lively and spirited nature of the Lapp woman, as well as the humorous struggles the trio face in bridging their language barriers.
